New style

I learned this new painting process from The Art Center blog, from artist Sam Neilson.  Surprisingly quite easy to learn though I had a hard time setting the highlights and shadows.

1. Fairly dark and even base colors.
2. Shade/Shadow is set in layer style 'Multiply'
3. Highlight is set in layer style 'Overlay'
4. Without the base color, that's how it looks like with both shade and highlight layers are on and also add a separate layer for ambient occlusion and set it also in Multiply.
5. Now with base color on.
6. Add some more lights and/or finishing touches in a separate layer and I set it in 'Screen'

Done

I use Paint Tool Sai for painting, and the cleaning, editing and layer styling mostly done in Photoshop CS3.
